Conquer Your Fear of Heights

As a SKYWALK guide I spend a lot of my time on the Observation deck and the roof (SKYWALK). I get to meet people from all over the world. Their reasons for visiting varies, but believe it or not, a lot of our guests are not so keen on heights. This is not surprising as acrophobia is one of the most common phobias, and most people will experience it at some stage in their lifetime.
Looking back on my first SKYWALK, I remember I was excited yet quite apprehensive. However, once I was out there surrounded by breathtaking views, I let go of any nervous feelings. I had a great time and it shows in the photos too, which leads me to give you all a very important tip I received before skydiving: Always remember to smile in your photos, regardless of how nervous you are. If you have that awkward nervous smile during SKYWALK, you tend to look a bit um…constipated…not a good look! So smile people :)
The SKYWALK team are professional and extremely patient and we strive to personalise our walks to meet the diverse needs of our guests. We empathise with the fact that not everyone is comfortable with heights, but honestly, SKYWALK is an exhilarating, non-strenuous and non-stressful experience. It would be a shame for you to miss out.
SKYWALK - more serene than extreme...
Just in case you're wondering, we have not lost anyone this year and all nervous guests have returned safely and ecstatic that they did the SKYWALK and overcame their fear of heights. We really, really mean it when we say that SKYWALK is more serene than extreme!
I look forward to seeing you up there, but before I go, I'll leave you with this quote:
"I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear."
- Nelson Mandela
